Event starts with a half hour college level presentation on the Corps Mission at Mill Creek. The presentation will focus on human-environment interface, specifically flood control with its intended and non-intended benefits/impacts. We will also address our responsibility to consider and address all natural resource impacts incurred by our mission. Following the presentation, we will move to the field to remove internal fences that are impeding wildlife movement on the Mill Creek Project.
The work will consist primarily of cutting or untwisting the wire holding up the fence and then rolling the fence up for easy removal. Component parts will be put into containers and/or the back of a government pickup truck for later recycling. T-posts will be removed from the ground with a specialized leverage tool. These posts will be sorted for recycle or further use and placed in the appropriate vehicle.
Bring personal water container, additional water will be provided. Good shoes, no open toed shoes, sandals, or flip-flops. Hat. Sun screen. Full length pants, and long sleeve shirts are highly recommended but not required. Weather appropriate outer wear, such as a jacket. Snacks as desired.
