Description

Patchwork Pop Art Guide

Patchwork Pop is a calming, hands-on art experience where participants explore Kinusaiga, a Japanese fabric art technique. Your role helps participants feel supported as they experiment with color, texture, and design while creating their own unique fabric artwork.

Your Purpose

  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect. Speak to participants as you would any other teen or adult.

  • Help participants select fabric pieces and guide them in gently tucking the fabric into the pre-cut grooves of their design boards.

  • Encourage creativity and reassure participants that there is no “right” way to design their artwork.

  • Assist with fine motor tasks such as holding boards steady, positioning fabric, or using the tucking tools safely.

  • Offer patience and encouragement when participants need extra time or feel frustrated.

  • Celebrate each participant’s artistic choices and progress throughout the activity.

  • Encourage positive social interaction by inviting participants to share colors, ideas, or compliments with one another.

  • Help distribute dinner and support a welcoming mealtime environment.

  • Assist with organizing materials and cleaning up fabric pieces at the end of the event.
