POSTED: A Social Media Night
Thursday, February 5 | 5:00–7:00 pm
About the Event
This SOAR session creates a safe and social space for teens and adults with disabilities to explore internet safety, digital privacy, and responsible social media use. Through interactive games and discussion, participants practice decision-making, confidence, and healthy boundaries online: skills that directly impact real-world independence and relationships.
Your Purpose
-
Treat every participant with dignity and respect; speak to them as you would any other teen or adult.
-
Support participants as they explore what is safe to share online and what should stay private.
-
Encourage discussion, peer interaction, and turn-taking during games and lounge activities.
-
Help create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions.
-
Be attentive: participants may walk, roll, or ride, and some may wander, keep eyes open, gently redirect, or follow if needed.
-
Build connection by learning participants’ names and helping them feel included and valued.
-
Maintain safety while keeping the atmosphere relaxed, social, and fun.
