About the Event
Your help makes SOAR’s Friendsgiving possible! Join us for a heartwarming evening of cooking, crafting, games, and gratitude as participants come together to share a Friendsgiving feast. Your energy and care will help make the night festive, welcoming, and full of connection.
Your Purpose
As a Friendsgiving Sous Chef & Celebration Crew member, your role is to support participants as they cook, craft, and celebrate together, while building genuine friendships along the way. You’ll help ensure everyone feels included, capable, and valued.
Treat everyone with dignity and respect. Speak to participants as you would any other teen or adult: with kindness, patience, and authenticity.
What You’ll Do

Act as a sous chef - assist participants as they prepare and cook the Friendsgiving meal (guide and help with chopping, mixing, plating, etc.).

Encourage independence while offering help when needed.

Join in the fun! Support games, crafts, and other celebration activities throughout the event.

Build connections, share stories, laughter, and encouragement to make every participant feel like part of the celebration.

Keep the environment upbeat, inclusive, and social, and help create a sense of community.

Stay alert and attentive: participants may wander or attempt to leave unexpectedly. Calmly redirect or notify staff if needed.

Help with clean-up and transitions to keep things running smoothly.

Closed-toe shoes are recommended for safety in the kitchen area.
