About the Event
Your help makes Connect & Play possible! While parents connect in their session, kids (under 12 with disabilities and their siblings) will dive into a sweet and creative activity - decorating cookies together! Your role ensures the kids have fun, feel safe, and enjoy every sprinkle of the experience.
Your Purpose
As a Cookie Crew Companion, you help create a warm, inclusive, and joyful environment for all children. Your presence allows parents to participate in peace, knowing their kids are engaged and cared for.
Treat everyone with dignity and respect. Speak to participants as you would any other child: with kindness, patience, and sincerity.
What You’ll Do
-
Welcome children with enthusiasm and guide them to the cookie decorating area.
-
Encourage creativity, help kids with frosting, sprinkles, and designs as needed.
-
Keep the atmosphere fun, safe, and inclusive for all children, including siblings.
-
Be attentive: some kids may wander, need reassurance, or need help joining in.
-
Offer positive encouragement and celebrate each child’s creation!
-
Bathroom needs: If a child needs to use the restroom, let the SOAR Coordinator (Tash) know, she will text their parents to assist.
What to Bring / Know
-
Wear clothes that can handle a little frosting or sprinkles - cookie decorating can get messy!
-
Bring your smile, patience, and enthusiasm for helping kids have fun.
-
Avoid food sharing unless directed (some kids may have allergies).
-
Your kindness and attentiveness make this activity a safe, happy space for every child.
