Did you know that MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities?
We are excited to invite you (all ages welcome, family-friendly) and your friends to assemble 2,000 backpacks of food for elementary students who would otherwise go hungry on the weekend. We will be meeting at 3 pm at the BMAC Food Bank. After receiving an orientation, volunteers will be divided into a number of different roles to accomplish this huge goal. Thanks in advance for supporting our children.
The Backpack Bridge Program was started by BMAC to help students who receive free or reduced meals from their schools during the week but were going hungry on weekends. This affects one out of five kids in our community. Now, thanks to you, students in need can take home a food kit each weekend to prepare easy meals and snacks on their own. For just $24, a child can eat on weekends for a month. If you can't join us to assemble the backpacks but would like to help financially, please visit the BMAC website by using this link.
