Description

The Adult Literacy Program frequently receives requests from adults who are seeking assistance with digital literacy.  This could range from understanding how to use a smartphone, to uploading documents on an application to using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Typically, students are paired one-on-one with a tutor, however, we may pair two students with a tutor if the students are at a similar level and the tutor agrees to work with two students.  We ask students and tutors to commit to meeting twice each week for 60-minute sessions.  Tutoring must take place in a public location.  Meeting days, times and location are determined by mutual agreement of student(s) and tutor.

While there is no requirement to be bilingual in English/Spanish to provide digital literacy tutoring, we currently lack digital literacy tutors who speak Spanish and would like to add this service to our tutoring program.

Digital literacy tutors participate in a 3-hour general training with the program director.  You can find more information at https://www.bmacww.org/programs/adult-literacy. You may also complete an online Adult Literacy volunteer application at https://www.volgistics.com/appform/132725574.
