Who We Are

Located in the heart of Whitman Campus, Walla Walla Community Hospice came from humble beginnings. For the first four years of operation, WWCH was ran entirely of volunteers:

In 1976 Elisabeth Kübler-Ross came to Walla Walla to give a seminar on Death and Dying, and WWCH founders, Chuck and Fran Filipi, stated: "She advised us to let go of concerns for financing and just do the right thing.  “The money will be there for you if it is an act of love.” We began in 1980, drawing together a small group of people to explore the need and potential for a hospice.  The working staff would need to be entirely volunteer and we would move on with confidence that Elisabeth knew what she was talking about."

What We Do

The mission of Walla Walla Community Hospice is to provide compassionate care to patients in the final stages of life and support for their loved ones and caregivers.

THE COMFORT OF HOME

Most people say they would choose end-of-life care in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by friends and family. We honor that choice and help make it happen.

Hospice care can be initiated in any home setting including a nursing home, adult family home, group home, or assisted living facility. Wherever you are at home—we'll be there.

WE CAN HELP

Hospice care is appropriate for patients living with a condition that is not considered curable, and has progressed to where there may be six months or less of life.

Patients of any age and with any terminal illness are eligible.
