Who We Are
The AVID elementary program is a school-wide approach open to all elementary students within the AVID district. AVID-trained tutors check binders and help them transition into high school.
AVID-trained tutors in middle school and high school:
- Take an active role in developing the academic and person strengths of AVID students
- Provide academic support to students in rigorous courses
- Serve as coach and mentor to AVID students
- Assist students in maintaining the AVID binder, planner and Cornell Notes
- Facilitate tutorial learning process and implement AVID methodologies
- Monitor student progress (binders/tutorials) providing feedback to students and teachers
- Encourage students to enroll in college or university after high school
What We Do
AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a schoolwide effort designed to increase the number of students who enroll and succeed in higher education and in their lives beyond high school. AVID trained teachers, counselors, administrators, staff and tutors teach student academic and social skills needed to succeed in college and beyond.
