Letters Against Isolation is a volunteer-run nonprofit founded in 2020 by teenage sisters Shreya and Saffron, who began writing letters to seniors during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
Since then, our community has mailed more than 1 million letters, delivering joy and connection to senior citizens in all 50 states, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. We write in dozens of languages, from Albanian to Vietnamese.
Get Involved
You can get started by responding to our current needs in the United Way portal, but volunteers will also need to register on our website to gain access to the active letter requests from our partner facilities. Register to volunteer, sign up your senior program to receive letters or learn more about our work:
What We Do
We organize volunteers of all ages to handwrite friendly, conversational letters to seniors in aged care homes and community programs such as Meals on Wheels and senior centers.
