Volunteer Opportunities From: United Way of the Blue Mountains

Attention all photography enthusiasts! We are seeking volunteers to capture this event through the lens of a camera. As a member of our photography group, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow photographers and document the projects in a unique and compelling way. Photographers will be given a map of grouped project locations to go around and take pictures. Transportation and cameras are not provided. 

Volunteers will help YWCA with preparing for their Yard Sale Extravaganza! You will work alongside a program lead and program recipients to prepare for a yard sale the following weekend that will benefit the program recipients.

This project requires lifting and walking. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty! Volunteers should be at least 16 years of age. 

Teams will be loading recyclable materials and trash into the delivery truck, cleaning and organizing merchandise outside, trimming the perimeter fenceline, pulling weeds, applying gravel to the paths, building a carport cover structure, reclaiming metal, and other tasks as determined necessary.

This is a mostly outdoor, physical, and interactive project that requires the ability to lift, or team lift, up to 50 pounds, walk and carry items over uneven surfaces, and work with dirty and dusty materials. No families with young kids should sign up for this project. Make sure to wear closed toe, closed heel footwear, clothes that can get dirty, and bring a water bottle.

Volunteers will join the Berney Garden Weed Crew with reclaiming the outer fence at the Berney Elementary School garden from weeds. Participants will weed along the outer fence of the garden to create a border between the grass and the garden space. 

This volunteer opportunity will require bending, knelling, and sitting to weed in an outdoor space. Make sure to wear clothing that can get dirty, wear sunscreen/a hat if applicable, and bring a water bottle! 

Help get Kirkman House Museum ready for the tourist season! Volunteers will assist with clean-up doing tasks like raking, weeding, trimming, light digging, waxing the hallway, and cleaning up the basement. 

Make sure to bring a water bottle and wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty! 

For this volunteer opportunity, volunteers will help with setup for WWU's Multicultural Festival!

For this volunteer opportunity, volunteers will assist the Frenchtown Historic Foundation with spreading wood chips, cleaning various sites for planting, weeding, sweeping, and raking. This project is not suitable for families with young kids.

Make sure to wear clothes that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes. Hats and sunscreen are also recommended. Don't forget to bring a water bottle!

Volunteers will be assisting Blue Mountain Audubon Society with spreading bark on a trail! Some activities will include shoveling, pushing wheelbarrows, and spreading the bark with rakes. This project is not family friendly. 

Make sure to wear clothing for working outside and sturdy shoes or boots. Don't forget to bring a water bottle!

If you like horses, this might be the volunteer opportunity for you! Volunteers will assist with burning tree limbs, cleaning blackberry vines, raking, installing t-posts for fencing, power-washing the horse trailer, and other tasks around the farm! 

Some elements of this job may require lifting. Make sure to wear closed toe shoes and dress for the weather/working outside!

Volunteers will assist with a variety of outdoor tasks, including watering ad servicing tree plantings, maintaining trails, and cleaning up litter. Jobs will be provided for all physical fitness levels. 

Make sure to wear comfortable outdoor work clothing such as closed toe shoes, a long sleeve shirt, and long pants to help protect against ticks and insects. Don't forget to bring a water bottle! 

Volunteers will help out Gesa Power House Theatre with cleaning out tables and chairs, organizing storage rooms, and painting the stairs! 

This opportunity will require lifting up to 50lbs, walking, potentially walking up and down stairs and uneven outside ground (gravel, rocks, etc.). Any children volunteering for this project must have close adult supervision. Make sure to bring a water bottle and wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty or stained!

This is a private project for those who are not participating in one of the main community day projects (Planning Committee, or WWU Campus Sound)  but still need to be checked in to get WWU CommUnity credit and/or to track numbers. 

This sign-up is for individuals part of an organization hosting a project that would like to attend the welcoming ceremony (including free lunch) for Tri-College Community Day. 

For this volunteer opportunity, you will assist with putting away donations and organizing for Hope Heals!
