Volunteer: Tri-College Community Day '26 -- Project Sidewalk (9)

Volunteers will be using Project Sidewalk to identify sidewalk and accessibility gaps for future infrastructure projects.

1st hour – community walk audit with regular stops to discuss the built environment, how we interact with it, and how it informs our travel decisions

2nd hour – classroom/computer lab – overview of the Project Sidewalk online data collection tool, Q&A, student signups for PS (creating logins), and starting work w/ PS

3rd hour – students working on Project Sidewalk missions, with guidance and support from event/project leaders

Physical requirements for participation: Walking, standing, and/or sitting – a mix of these will aim to alleviate any extended periods of any one physical requirement. The walk audit portion would be located along an accessible route to the greatest degree possible. Part of this work includes covering features that limit accessibility (what we are trying to identify for fixing) – we see navigation around these as additional learning opportunities and not barriers to participation. The event meeting location will be located near a parking area with handicap parking spots, and the route from the outside location to a classroom will also be accessible.
