Volunteer Opportunities From: United Way of the Blue Mountains

Volunteers will help out by washing the inside and outside of windows and screens and scanning documents.

This volunteer opportunity involves assisting residents at Rancho Villa by cleaning yards and raking leaves.

Do you like horses? If so, this is the volunteer opportunity for you! Volunteers will help out at Blue Mountain Therapeutic Riding by raking leaves, grooming horses, pulling weeds, stacking hay, cleaning tack, and painting.

Help the National Park Service at Whitman Mission NHS remove invasive plant species and work to protect the natural resources of this place. Volunteers will work with NPS natural resources staff to identify and remove various invasive plant species from the park. Work will be outdoors, in the open-air, moving through grasses and across uneven landscapes. Volunteers will need to wear closed toed shoes and long pants.

Volunteers will cut, weigh, and bag clay for our October art lessons that reach over 3,000 students in our partner schools.

Work together with Watershed Council staff to help improve water quality and wildlife habitat near the source of Dry Creek, a tributary to the Walla Walla River. Volunteers will plant trees and shrubs, harvest live willow branches for planting, spread grass seed, and pile branches in runoff ditches to reduce erosion.

Please bring layers for chilly weather conditions. The site is about 30 minutes up into the Blue Mountains. Wear shoes to get muddy. Watershed Council staff will bring tools, gloves, and a portable toilet.

Volunteers will help out at Frenchtown Memorial Site by sweeping walkways, weeding, and raking.

Tidy indoors and out, load materials for landfill and recycling, reclaim, pull weeds, organizer merchandise, etc. to prepare the store for fall/winter.

Do you enjoy thrifting? If so, this is the volunteer opportunity for you. This project will include re-arranging and refreshing store displays & some furniture, sorting and hanging clothes, moving and stacking boxes, and some dusting and light cleaning at Yeehaw Aloha Thrift Shop.

The project involves cleaning up invasive vegetation and at least one small rock dam within the riparian area of Stone Creek, a small Salmonid bearing stream in College Place.

First, it is an environmental service project which would keep a small portion of Stone Creek to flow freely. Secondly, it would help the residents of the manufactured home community to maintain their property, at least in the riparian area.

If you enjoy painting, this is the volunteer opportunity for you! Choose this volunteer opportunity to help out at Park Manor by touching up the yellow lines in the parking lot and painting handrails.

For this volunteer opportunity, participants will help out at Quail Run Retirement by weeding flower beds and washing windows so that residents and visitors can fully appreciate the beauty of our campus!

Volunteers will help in deep cleaning Walla Walla University’s Flight Center. Volunteers will be able to clean ceiling cobwebs, reorganize the solo shirt wall, remove junk from (and mop) the simulator room, vacuum, spray bug spray, weed, wash windows, de-nest the overhang, and remove old window lettering. This service will create a better appearance for the Technology/Aviation department!
