Please arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the shift to receive Just In Time training.

Vaccinator
PREP:
o Be familiar with needles in use and their safety mechanism.
o Prepare supplies and ensure all needed supplies are available
o Band-Aids o Orange and green stickers
o Cotton balls o Hand sanitizer
o Alcohol prep pads o Fun stickers (pediatric table)
o Pens o

GREET & COLLECT:
o Collect CHIT and vaccine card from client.
o Ensure that it has been the appropriate time since last vaccination.
 If client does not have card with them, check digital copy of card (Photo, WAVerify, ect) or check back of CHIT if registration lead looked up info.
CHIT
1. Confirm client’s name and DOB listed on CHIT. Ensure no changes need to be made
2. Confirm type of vaccine, and which dose it is with client.
3. Determine if a vaccinator review is required
4. Hand CHIT and vaccine card to Table Assistant

VACCINATION:
1. Clean deltoid off using alcohol prep pad.
2. Confirm that syringe pulled matches vaccine CHIT and what client wants.
3. Confirm that syringe contains the correct dosage of vaccine
a. Pfizer 12+ = 0.3mL Pfizer 5-11 years = 0.2mL
b. Moderna: Initial Series Dose = 0.5mL Booster dose = 0.25mL
4. Inject vaccine IM into deltoid muscle
5. Place a bandage on injection site
6. Document time of injection on green or orange sticker
a. Orange sticker (30 min observation period) = Client with a history of:
i. A contraindication to another type of COVID-19 vaccine product
ii. Immediate (within 4 hours of exposure) non-severe allergic reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine.
iii. Immediate allergic reaction of any severity to a non-COVID-19 vaccine or injectable therapies
iv. Anaphylaxis due to any cause.
b. Green sticker (15 min observation period) = All other persons

CHIT & WRAP UP:
1. Sign bottom of CHIT as vaccinator and indicate whether vaccine was given in right or left deltoid.
2. Place CHIT in basket face down and provide vaccine card and observation sticker to client.
3. Explain to client the observation period and indicate who will be observing them and to let the observer know if they begin to feel unwell.
