Volunteer Opportunities From: United Way of the Blue Mountains

Role: We’re so grateful for your time, energy, and commitment to making this trip a fun and memorable experience for our participants! You are the heart of this event. Your Purpose - Treat everyone with dignity and respect. Speak to participants as you would any other teen or adult. - Be both friend and safety net. JOIN in the fun while ensuring participants stay safe and engaged. They want to see you have a good time, too! - Encourage and connect. Help participants explore the farmers market, car show, and assist with dinner.            - Watch for elopement or wandering. This is what we refer to as a Level 3 (high) elopement risk environment. Keep your group together, and immediately alert Camden if a participant wanders off. Please bring your own money if you’d like to purchase food.

Role: Movie Night Chaperone Movie Night is about relaxing, having fun, and enjoying time with friends. Thank you for being here to make it a safe and enjoyable evening for all. Your Purpose - Treat everyone with dignity and respect. Speak to participants as you would any other teen or adult. - Be another set of eyes. Supervise the group to ensure everyone is safe and comfortable. - Offer support where needed. Some participants may: * Need help finding a seat or carrying snacks *Need reassurance if the movie is loud or intense - Be a friend. Sit with participants, laugh together, and make the night fun. - Encourage inclusion. If someone is sitting off to the side or seems unsure, invite them to join in. - Enjoy yourself! This is a relaxed event; feel free to watch the movie and share the fun right alongside participants.

Adult volunteers are an important part of making our camp welcoming and fun! As a Camp Buddy, you’ll be paired with campers or help in activity stations, supporting campers in having a great time. You don’t need special experience, just a kind heart, patience, and a willingness to help! Responsibilities Be a friend and buddy to campers, helping them feel included and safe. Support campers with activities like crafts, games, and STEAM projects. Encourage participation and celebrate camper successes. Use positive communication and be a good role model. Assist with transitions between camp activities. Work as part of a team with camp staff and adult volunteers. Ideal Qualities Friendly, responsible, and respectful Comfortable interacting with people with different abilities Willing to learn and take direction from camp leaders Energetic, flexible, and patient Reliable and able to attend most (or all) camp days Support Adult staff and mentors will always be available for help and guidance You’ll never be asked to do anything outside your comfort zone What You'll Gain Volunteer hours for school or community service Experience working with people with disabilities New friendships and fun memories A certificate of appreciation at the end of camp

Role: Karaoke Chaperone & Cheerleader We’re so grateful for your time, energy, and joy in helping make Karaoke Night a fun and welcoming space for everyone! Your Purpose - Treat everyone with dignity and respect. Speak to participants as you would any other teen or adult. - Join the fun! Sing along, clap, cheer, and make each person feel like a star. - Encourage participants who might be nervous—your support could be the reason they get up on stage. - Be attentive: help with signing up for songs, finding lyrics, or supporting someone who just wants to watch. - Keep an eye out for participants’ safety, and make sure everyone feels included.
