Who We Are

CEEP

The Community Energy Efficiency Program (CEEP) helps reduce the region's consumption of electricity and natural gas through energy assessments, performance review, thermal imaging and more

Walla Walla Valley Farm to School

WWVF2S supports gardens and garden education throughout the Blue Mountain Region. Areas of interest may include Elementary School Gardens, Hydro and Aquaponics, and Pride Garden

BRS

The Builders ReSupply (BRS) Store gives our community access to low-cost, reusable and recycled building materials. We accept donations of new and used construction materials and then sell these items to the public at a reduced cost.

$BP

Through the $mart Business Partners ($BP) program the SLC works to encourage businesses to adopt sustainable practices. $mart business assessments help businesses set and achieve goals to reduce energy, water, waste and purchasing cost.

Education and Outreach

The SLC offers educational public workshops (PWS) on energy savings, renewable energy, and conservation of resources. Recent workshops included information on sustainable gardening practices, composting, solar energy, reducing exposure to toxins, and pollinators. SLC participates in local events in Walla Walla, College Place and Milton-Freewater to provide information and resources to our communities.

What We Do

The Sustainable Living Center (SLC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which was created to inform and educate our community about the benefits of resource conservation.  The SLC, through education, outreach and partnerships, works to promote awareness of, and facilitate sustainable living practices.

The Sustainable Living Center program was established in July 2005, with a grant from Washington State Department of Ecology. After operating as a 2-day renewable energy festival from 2002 to 2005, the organization determined that a year-round facility was needed to serve the region's growing interest in renewable energy conservation, green building, waste reduction, and other topics related to sustainability.

Today, the SLC has established a reputation in the Walla Walla region as the clearinghouse for information and resources for making more sustainable lifestyle decisions. With funding from government and private sources, we maintain five successful programs that help us achieve our mission. We have established working relationships with many regional for-profit, non-profit, and government agencies to build a sustainable community.
